About Us
In 1915 Stephen E. Bayley settled in Pine Point, dug clams in Jones Creek and trapped lobsters off the coast to feed his wife and four sons. When there was enough left over to sell, his wife Ella would cook the lobsters and sell them to people through her kitchen window.
Bayley’s Lobster Pound opened shorly after and to date, we have sold over 30 million pounds of lobsters. We are pioneers in the shipping of lobsters. Our lobsters were originally shipped to restaurants via train in wooden barrels, and we were one of the very first lobster pounds to ship lobsters overnight.
In 2012, the fourth generation of the Bayley family, Susan and her husband Vincent, turned their historic bait cooler into a bar and added tables for a restaurant on their dock overlooking the Scarborough River. A full bar and waitstaff await you with traditional favorites and some new twists on Maine seafood.
